Mary I. (Alves) Johnson, a longtime Charlestown resident and living on Beacon Hill in Boston for the last 10 years, died on Wednesday July 8, 2008 at The North End Nursing Center in Boston after a lengthy illness. She was 89 years old.
Mary was born in Boston and grew up in Charlestown where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1938. She had been a homemaker most of her adult life.
Mary is the beloved wife of the late Frederick Johnson. She is the devoted mother of Frederick Johnson of Boston. She is the beloved sister of the late Alice O'Connor, Joseph, Frank and Edward Alves.
Mary's Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday July 14, 2009 at 10 a.m. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be on Monday July 13, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
