Donald C. Johnson, 86, of Douglas died Friday, July 10, 2009, at his residence. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2009, at Trinity United Methodist Church. Rev. Graig Hutton, Rev. Ronald Johnson and Rev. Bob McGibbon will officiate with burial to follow in Omega Cemetery. Josh Johnson, Joel Johnson, Justin Johnson, Adam Gaskins, Jeff White and Mark White will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 12, 2009, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Johnson was born on May 11, 1923 in Tift County and was the son of Wallace Johnson and Lois Simmons Johnson, both deceased. He was a retired aircraft mechanic in the United States Navy and served 20 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Douglas.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Rogers Johnson of Douglas; one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Deborah Johnson of Tifton; two sisters, Geraldine White of Tifton and Helen White of Chula; six grandchildren and their spouses, Joshua Johnson, Janna Hales, Jeanine and Sean Spoors, Jessica and Adam Gaskins, Joel Johnson and Justin Johnson; and five great grandchildren, Gavyn Hales, Malachi Hales Elli Hales, Caleb Spoors and Colton Spoors.
