Wanda J. (Rogers) Jordan, 78, of Gales Ferry died Saturday morning at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of James E. Jordan.
She was born the only daughter to Juanita and Loy Rogers on August 15, 1930 in Weleetka, OK. After graduating from Wolfe High School in Bowlegs, OK, she attended Business College and upon receiving her diploma, she entered the US Navy and served at a Yeoman for 2 ½ years.
She met her husband, James E. Jordan, while he was attending Class C School at the Naval Training Center in Great Lakes, IL. The two were married Nov. 17, 1953 after a 3-week courtship.
She enjoyed crocheting, crafts of all sorts, word puzzles and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed playing card games with her grandchildren, BBQ's, the color red, a colorful tee shirt, a good sweatshirt and a good laugh. Let it be said she was quite the connoisseur of hamburgers and enjoyed them more than anything.
He is survived by her husband, James E. Jordan; her son, James L. Jordan & his wife Johnni; her grandchildren Erica & Wes Firmin; Jami Jordan, Zak & Holly Jordan and Amber Jordan.
Her crocheted afghans, laughter, warm heart and sense of humor will be greatly missed by her family.
Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown mystic on Monday from 3pm-3:45pm, immediately followed by a Memorial Service at 4pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
