Georgina Azevedo, 95

Georgina (Serrao) Azevedo , of Norton passed away on her 95th birthday Friday July 10, 2009 at the Taunton Nursing Home in Taunton. She was the beloved wife of the late Augusto F. Azevedo who died on August 10, 1984.
Born in Taunton, MA on July 10, 1914 she was a loving daughter of the late Francisco and Caroline (DeJesus) Serrao.
As a young child her family moved back to Madeira Island in Portugal where she grew up and was educated. At the age of 41 she moved back to Norton and shortly afterwards was married to her late husband at St. Mary’s Church in Norton.
Mrs. Azevedo was a retired domestic having worked at Wheaton College prior to retiring and had also been employed at the former Talbot’s Woolen Mill in Norton.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton, Georgina was an avid gardener and enjoyed growing vegetables and tending to her beautiful flower gardens. She loved being in the presence of her adoring family and will always be remembered for her exceptional cooking skills.
She was the devoted mother of James Azevedo of Taunton and the late George Azevedo who passed away on January 25, 2008. She was the dear mother in law of Wendy Azevedo of Norton and was the sister of Francisco Serrao of Florida and the late Maria, Connie, Augusta, Manuel and Joseph Serrao. Georgina is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Jason Azevedo and his wife Lisa of Norton, Kami McMorrow and her husband J.P. of Norton and Bryan Azevedo of Texas.
Her funeral mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Tuesday July 14th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 133 South Worcester St. Norton. Burial will follow in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours are omitted and those wishing may make donations in her memory to the charity of ones choice
