Obituary

AMARI, Anthony C., Sr.- Of Malden, formerly of the North End of Boston, July 9th. Devoted husband for 63 years of Antonetta (DeFronzo). Son of the late Vito and Maria (Vanilla) Amari. Beloved father of Vito Amari of Danvers, Anthony Amari, Jr. and his wife Janet of Braintree and Joseph Amari and his wife Michele of Malden. Brother of the late Peter Amari. Cherished grandfather of Kristine, Jeffrey, Nicole, Jenna and Amanda. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral from the Smith-Carroll Funeral Home, 721 Salem Street, (Maplewood Square) MALDEN on Monday, July 13th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph's Church, 770 Salem Street, MALDEN at 10 o'clock. Visiting Hours in the Smith-Carroll Funeral Home on Sunday from 3-7 PM. Services will conclude with entombment at the Holy Cross Mausoleum, Malden. Expressions of sympathy in Anthony's name may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
Born and raised on Charter Street in the North End of Boston, Anthony passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital early Thursday morning after a short illness at the age of 85.

Anthony remained on Charter Street until in marriage, and at that time moved to Michelangelo Street, also in the North End. At the age of 30, he and his wife moved to Malden where they spent the next 55 years. A veteran of the United States Army during World War II, where during combat was wounded in the South of France. Upon returning to civilian status, Anthony worked for the United States Government as a supplyman at the Charlestown Navy Yard, retiring after 25 years of service.
