Gloria T. Vitaris, 81
Worcester—Gloria T. (Bennett) Vitaris, 81, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Monday, July 6, 2009 at UMass Memorial Hospital. She leaves her husband of over 58 years, Arthur F. Vitaris; two sons, Ronald F. and his wife Robin of Worcester and Kevin J. Vitaris and Lori Houle of Rutland; a brother, William Bennett of Worcester; two sisters, Barbara Eldredge of Worcester and Irene Gibbons of Dennis; one granddaughter, Bethany A. Vitaris of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Lawrence and Edgar, and two sisters, Marion and June, predeceased her. Gloria was born in Worcester, daughter of Edgar R. and Irene G. (Flynn) Bennett. She worked for many years in the coffee shop at Hahnemann Hospital. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Church and was an avid card player, baker, and quilter. She also enjoyed solving word puzzles and shopping with her granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held from Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, on Thursday, July 9, with a 10:00 a.m. Mass at St. Stephen’s Church, 357 Grafton Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday July 8, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at Nordgren Memorial Chapel. Flowers may be sent.
