DARTMOUTH — Charles G. Francis, age 66 years, of Dartmouth, died Monday, June 29, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital after a lingering illness. He was the husband of Lee (Anderson) Francis.
Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Gerald and Mary T. (Hines) Francis. Well known in the local boating industry, he was formerly employed by Concordia Boat Yard and later worked for Hunt Yachts of Portsmouth, R.I.
In addition to his wife Lee, he is survived by his daughters, Deborah DeFiguerido and her husband, Julio of Dartmouth and Carolyn Swift and her husband, Christopher of West Barnstable; his step daughter, Heather Anderson and her fiancé, Frank DeFiguerido, of Dartmouth; grandchildren, Emily, Hannah, Sophie, Glenn and Evan; his former wife, Joan (Raymond) Peternal of Wareham; his sister, Virginia Higbie and her husband, Paul of Las Cruces, N.M.; his brothers, Gerald Francis and his wife, Elaine of Amherst, N.H., and Peter Francis and his wife, Debbie of Columbia, CT; and several nieces and nephews.
His memorial service will take place on Thursday, July 9, 2009, at 11 A.M., in the Wilson Chapel, 419 County St., NB. Please omit flowers. Remembrances may be made in his name to the Oncology Department, Hawthorne Medical Associates, 535 Faunce Corner Rd., Dartmouth 02747. Burial is private in the Veteran's National Cemetery in Bourne.
