Martinez, GA – Mr. B. Dallas Knight, Jr., age 86, beloved husband of Mrs. Wanda G. Knight, entered into rest on Friday, July 3, 2009 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with Mr. Mark L. Gilliam and Mr. D. Nick Gilliam officiating. Interment with military honors to follow at 4:00 PM at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery in Macon, GA.
Mr. Knight served his country proudly in combat during World War II flying 43 missions in a B-24 Liberator in the Pacific Theatre. He also worked with Georgia Power until his retirement.
In addition to his wife Mr. Knight is survived by his son, Roland Kenneth Knight and wife Charlotte of Fernandina, FL; his four daughters, Gloria Jean Godbee and husband Bill of Mobile, AL, Dallas Faye Tasciotti and husband Vince of Brunswick, GA, Claudia Gelston Haraway and husband Sam of Brunswick, and Laverne Hope Knight also of Brunswick; his brother, Richard Herman Knight and wife Jean of Macon; his two step-sons, D. Nick Gilliam and wife Mary of Slidell, LA and Mark L. Gilliam and fiancé Laura J. Tilt of Martinez; and his thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Mr. Knight was preceded in death by his first wife, Sara Laverne Knight and his son, Richard Anthony Knight.
