Mrs. Obie D. Nelms, 85, of Fitzgerald, died, Thursday, July 2 at the Fitzgerald Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 6, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with Rev. Randy McDuffie officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Nelms was born July 10, 1923, in Dodge County to the late E.A. and Vidalia Jones Hutto. She was a homemaker and lived in Fitzgerald all of her life. Mrs. Nelms was a member of Westside Baptist Church and a loving mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Nelms is survived by her daughters and son-in-law: Pat Dixon of Fitzgerald and Annette N. & Glenn Lashley of Valdosta; son and daughter-in-law: Arnie & Judy Nelms of Fitzgerald; 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law that were raised by Mr. & Mrs. Nelms, Benny & David Nelms of Fitzgerald, as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy W. Nelms, granddaughters, Suzy & Dolly Nelms, four brothers and two sisters.
