Obituary

R.V. Tucker, 90, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Friday, July 3, 2009 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, July 5 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla with Rev. Tommy Land, Jr., Elder Charles Tyson and Rev. Ray Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 until 9 Saturday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.

Mr. Tucker was born February 17, 1919 in Irwin County, to the late Elijah J. and Mary Alice Griffin Tucker. He lived in Irwin County all of his life. Mr. Tucker was a farmer and a former employee of the Georgia Department of Transportation. He served in the United States Merchant Marines during World War II. Mr. Tucker was a member of Old Valley Grove Primitive Baptist Church.

Mr. Tucker is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Mary Alice & Tommy Land of the Lands Crossing Community in Irwin County; grandchildren: Rev. Tommy & Vickie Land, Jr., Charity Land and Bethany Grace Land, all of Jacksonville, GA; sister: Madge Tucker Roberts of Ocilla and a brother and sister-in-law: Fred & Ruby Tucker of Washington Court House, OH as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Wynn Tucker, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
