Obituary

LOWELL - Greta Ruth (Johnson) Killgren, 76, of Lowell, died Tuesday evening June 30, 2009, in the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston.

Born in Tyngsboro on September 18, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Ruth (Andrews) Johnson. She received her education in the Lowell school system and was a graduate of Lowell High School. She went on the earn her LPN from Tewksbury State Hospital School of Nursing.

Mrs. Killgren began her career as an LPN at Tewksbury Hospital where she was employed for twenty years. Subsequently she worked for additional twenty years as an LPN at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford until the time of her retirement in 2000.

In her free time she enjoyed gardening, playing bingo and cribbage, and was a bowling enthusiast. The time she cherished most was spent in the company of her grandchildren while she cared for them.

Surviving her are seven daughters Valerie and her husband David Allard of Sequim, WA, Karen and her husband Roland Caisse, Cheryl Killgren and her partner Jeff McNulty, Wendy Killgren and her partner Jay Grenon, all of Lowell; Kathy Cunningham of Wilton, NH; Robin and her husband Steven Grenon of Lowell, and Susan and her husband Gerald Durand of Dracut; three sons Mark Killgren and his wife Janet of Litchfield, NH, Brian Killgren and his Partner Debra Coan of Dracut, and Keith Killgren of Nashua, NH; seventeen grandchildren Mark Jr, Joseph, Nicole, Keith Jr., Matthew, Ollie, Jeremy, Timothy, Lloyd, Michael, Cassie, Samantha, Jacob, Billy, Tammy, Jose and Ashley; three great grandchildren Olivia Centeno, and Brittany and Tyler Pratt; one sister Sandra and her husband Fred Dube of Pepperell; one brother Walter Johnson and his wife Judy of Danvers; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Cynthia O'Hara.

Friends may call at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, Tuesday morning from 9 until 11 AM. Her Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM in the funeral home followed by interment in Tyngsboro Memorial Cemetery, Tyngsboro.
