Thomas G. O’Keefe 74 years, of Brockton died Tuesday June 30, 2009 at the Boston Medical Center after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Elizabeth C. (Daly) O’Keefe. Tom was born, raised and educated in Sleveen, County Waterford, Ireland a son of the late Thomas and Katherine (Daly) O’Keeffe. As a young man he came to the United States and since 1963 he had been a resident of Brockton.
Tom was a veteran of the US Air Force and had received his associate degree from Lesley College. Ten years ago he retired from Star Market where over the course of his 43 year career held many positions within the company. True to his Irish heritage, Tom was a member of the Irish Cultural Center in Canton and the former Irelands Own in Brockton. He was also a member of the Brockton YMCA and bowled with a senior league at Westgate Lanes. He enjoyed dancing with his wife, golf, and spending time with his friends and family. Tom will be remembered as a man with a great sense of humor who enjoyed a good laugh. He was most proud of his family and coming to America as a 17 year old young man. Thomas had been a communicant of Christ the King/St. Colman Parish.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son and three daughters Stephen O’Keefe of Brockton; Donna Koury and her husband Tom of Mashpee; Lisa O’Keefe of Waltham and Kathleen Shea and her husband Chris of Brockton. He was the grandfather of Sally, Shane and Stone and the brother of Joseph O’Keefe of Billerica; Billy, Mossie, Davey, Nora, Paddy, Martin and Sean O’Keeffe and Mary Collins all of Ireland and the late Charlie Daly. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Monday at 8 am. Funeral Mass in Christ the King/St. Colman Parish at 9 am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.
