Obituary

Elizabeth M. (Krier) Lanigan, 86 years old, widow of the late Frederick H. Lanigan who died in May of 2000, died Sunday morning at Saints Medical Center.
Born in Elizabeth, N.J. on July 10, 1922, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Schuch) Krier and was educated in the Elizabeth, N.J.schools and attended Battin High School where she was the Salutatorian of the graduating class.
Mrs. Lanigan came to Lowell from New Jersey fifty years ago. While living in New Jersey, she worked as a secretary for the Carl Ahlers Corporation in New York. Upon residing in Lowell, Mrs. Lanigan was a homemaker and was very active in activities surrounding her children. While her children were in school she was a member of the PTA at the Immaculate Conception School and the Mother’s Guild at Keith Hall. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church where she was a member of the Woman’s Guild and up until recently she served as a proctor for the Mother’s Group of the Church. Mrs. Lanigan had a fondness for singing as she was a member of her Church’s Choir for over forty years and also volunteered at the Lowell Senior Center singing at various Nursing Homes in the area.
She is survived by a son and daughter in law, Michael J. Lanigan and his wife Deborah of Dracut; five daughters and two sons in law, Mary E. Regan and her husband Timothy of Hamburg, N.Y., Sister Julia C. Lanigan, Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart from Yardley, PA., Joan C. McRobbie of San Francisco, CA., Elizabeth B. Lanigan of Dracut and Virginia A. McGuiggin and her husband Joseph of Dracut; nine grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; two great grandchildren; one step great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
LANIGAN- Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday July 1, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 NESMITH ST. (Rte 38) from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 pm. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday July 2, at 11 am at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH. Burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart, 1750 Quarry Rd., Yardley, PA. 19067. Arrangements are by the Mahoney Funeral Home, Lowell.
