Betty Joyner, 66 of Fitzgerald, died Monday, June 29 at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Fitzgerald Church of God with the Rev. Dwain Joiner officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery in Irwin County. Visitation will be from 7 until 9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Joyner was born December 2, 1942 in Wayne County, Georgia to the late Leonard and Ellavee Dixon Poindexter. She lived in Fitzgerald for the past seven years and was a former resident of Arabi, Miami, FL and Ft. Lauderdale, FL., where she attended cosmetology school. She attended the Fitzgerald Church of God.
Mrs. Joyner is survived by her companion, Greg Dowdy of Fitzgerald; daughter & son-in-law, Cathy & Gerald Satterfield of Fitzgerald; son & daughter-in-law, Mike & Wanda Baldwin of Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Kelly & Scotty Brady, Stephanie Davis, Mike Baldwin, Jr., Lauren Baldwin, Brittany Baldwin and Jason Willis; step-grandchildren, Brad, Andy & David Satterfield and Shad Chambers; brothers, Glen Thornton of Cordele, William Brewer and Gary Brewer, both of Griffin; sisters, Carol Summerlin and Denise Fletcher, both of Tifton, Debbie Webb and Diane Connell, both of Griffin and Daphne Kegebien of Tifton. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Carl Wayne Baldwin.
