Obituary

Arthur J. Johnson, 64, of Manchester died June 26, 2009 at The Arbors of Bedford after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Manchester on November 4, 1944, the son of Alfred and Bertha (Wiggin) Johnson and was a lifelong resident of the city.

Arthur graduated from Bishop Bradley High School, class of 1962. He entered the Army National Guard, then went on to earn his degree in electrical engineering from New Hampshire Technical College.

He worked many years as an electronic engineer for BAE Systems. After retiring, he helped many by working for the Moore Center Services.

Arthur was the president and co-founder of Challenger Sports Inc., created to promote pier relationships among special needs individuals through organized sports and social activities and relationships.

He was also a coach and vice president of Manchester North Little League “challenger” division baseball team and was involved in Special Olympics. He also coached little league baseball when his sons were involved.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, dining out, working outside in his yard, family outings, fishing, boating, and waxing his car to a spotless shine.

IN HIS LIFE: The family includes his beloved wife of 40 years, Carol (Puccio) Johnson of Manchester; two sons, Christopher Johnson and his wife, Camille of Weare, and Shawn Johnson of Manchester; two grandchildren, Brendan and Bryce Johnson; one brother, Alfred Johnson of Manchester; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister, Shirley Brunelle.

A memorial service took place in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, July 1, 2009. The Reverend Gary Andy, Chaplin of VNA Hospice of Manchester, officiated. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald St., Bedford, NH.
