Kathryn Gaines, 55 of Macon, formerly of Fitzgerald, died Sunday, June 21, 2009 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 26, 2009 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with Rev. Earl Perry officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Thursday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 27 in the atrium at Broadway Lofts, 698 Broadway in Macon, Georgia. The family will receive friends following the service.
Mrs. Gaines was born December 30, 1953 in Irwin County to the late Charles Eugene and Willie Kate Harp Smith. She was a former clerical worker for Glasstream Boats in Nashville and at Robert K. Finnell Attorney’s Office in Rome. For the past 9 years she was a property manager for McCarty Property Group in Macon. She managed Broadway Lofts, Katherine Court Apartments, Terrace Apartments, and Walnut Street Lane Properties. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Gaines is survived by her husband: Monroe Gaines of Macon; son & daughter-in-law: Robert Lamar “Robby” Gaines & Wanda of Fitzgerald; daughter and son-in-law: Anna Kate Busbin & David of Atlanta; grandson: Bailey Busbin of Atlanta; brother and sister-in-law: Charles & Shelly Smith of Chelsay, Alabama; sisters and brothers-in-law: Phyllis & Grover Presley and Robin & Robert Calhoun, all of Fitzgerald as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Tommy Smith and Harry Smith and a sister: Freddi Hagin.
