Obituary

SALEM- Peter L. Elliott, 68, of Salem, died in Salem on Wednesday morning, July 23, 2003, at the home of his sister, following a long illness.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Augustus J. and Alice W. (Laborde) Elliott.

Mr. Elliott served in the US Army from 1957 to 1959 and was stationed in Germany.

Prior to his retirement in 1995, he was employed at North Shore Recycled Fibers, Inc. in Salem for 46 years.

A lifelong resident of the city, he was a member of the American Legion, Post 53, and the VFW, Witch City Post 1524, both of Salem.

He is survived by two sisters, Lona J. Belanger of Salem, who cared for him during his extended illness, Evangeline D. Kastanopolous of Peabody, one brother, John and his wife Dorothy Elliott of Lynn, dear friends, Albert and Mary Coleman of Salem, and several nieces and nephews, including Peter Kastanopolous and Joseph Elliott whom he raised, and several grand nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late James W. Elliott.

A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, July 25, 2003 at the Dickson Memorial Chapel in Greenlawn Cemetery, North & Orne Streets, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visitation will be at the chapel from 9 to 10 am, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Hospice of The North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01970.
