Fagan --- John E. of Brighton, passed away peacefully on Father’s Day, June 21, 2009 at age 88. He was the second of eight children born to the late Joseph and Rose (Loughman) Fagan of Allston. Husband of Marguerite(Melody) Fagan. Father of Rev. John E. Fagan SJ, of the Jesuit Community at Boston College High School, Dorchester, Carol Anne, wife of Thomas Finn of Cumberland, RI; Kathleen Fagan of Vail, CO. and Claire, wife of Kenneth McAvoy of Marshfield. “Pa” was beloved grandfather of Kevin, Matthew and Martin Finn and Taya and Daniel Westerberg. Brother of Joseph Fagan of West Newton, Francis Xavier Fagan of Brockton, Peter Fagan of Beebe Plains, VT, Paul Fagan of Watertown and the late Thomas Fagan, Mary Cavicchi and Lawrence Fagan. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was a 32 year veteran of the Boston Fire Department, retiring as Superintendent of Maintenance. He was also a veteran of World War II, Army Corps of Engineers and a member of the Knights of Columbus. In retirement he owned a laundromat, a paint and wallpaper store and sold real estate. He was man of boundless energy, proud of his Irish heritage, with great Irish wit.
