Obituary

WORCESTER- Stephen G. White, 51, of Worcester, died Monday, June 22nd in the home he grew up and where he resided his whole life. He leaves two sisters, Denise M. Duff and her husband Michael of Rutland and Kimberly M. White of South Grafton; his two nephews, Christopher and Jonathan Duff and his niece Erica Duff, who were the lights of his life; his dog, Amber; and many cousins and countless friends.
Mr. White was born in Worcester, the son of former Worcester Police Officer, George W. White and Dolores (Provencher) White. He was a 1975 graduate of St. Peter’s Central Catholic High School and attended Boys Trade School to study in the electrical field. Mr. White was employed by Morse Brothers, the Providence Worcester Railroad, New England Telephone and finally by Wright-Line, until his illness in 1999. He was a member of St. Christopher’s Church, the Knights of Columbus, Alhambra Council and the Worcester Jaycee’s. Mr. White had a team for the Relay for Life called Rockets for Recovery and was a nominated and awarded as Volunteer of the Year in 2000. He loved to hunt, the outdoors, gardening, trains and rockets. Mr. White was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. The family would like to thank the Dr. Michael Galica and his staff and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute at the Head and Neck Center for their care over the past ten years.
The funeral is Saturday, June 27th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Christopher’s Church, 950 West Boylston Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, June 26th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Why Me & Sherry’s House, 1152 Pleasant Street, Worcester, MA 01602 or to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, Brookline, MA 02445, both of which Stephen donated to regularly.
