Kathleen A. (McEachern) Voegtlin, 45, of Norton formerly of Falmouth passed away courageously on Tuesday June 23, 2009 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was the beloved wife of David K. Voegtlin to whom she was wed on October 5, 1991.
Born in Falmouth, MA on April 4, 1964 she was a dear daughter of William and Mary (Coakley) McEachern of Falmouth.
She grew up in Falmouth, was educated in Falmouth public schools and was a 1982 graduate of Falmouth High School. Kathy furthered her studies to receive her degree in Social Work at Bridgewater State College and also had the opportunity to study abroad in Ireland. Before becoming a dedicated homemaker to her adoring family Kathleen had worked in marketing and sales.
Active in Norton affairs since moving to the community in 1994 she was the co-founder of NEED, Inc. (Norton Embracing Educational Development) and was the coordinator of the Shade Program, a sun safety awareness program. A former member of the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Norton she had also served on various committee’s at the church.
An ardent outdoors person her hobbies included her love for cycling, skiing, hiking and working out at the gym, She was quite artistic and especially enjoyed pottery. Her greatest joy in life was watching her sons grow up and participating as a volunteer at their schools.
In addition to her husband and parents she is survived by her cherished sons Kenneth W. Voegtlin and Matthew D. Voegtlin both of Norton. She was the sister of John McEachern, Susan Sullivan, Anne McElroy and the late Robert McEachern and William McEachern and is also survived by her in laws Kenneth Voegtlin and his wife Sonia of New Hampshire and Anna Swan and her husband Morrill of Maine, her sister in law Andrea Voegtlin of Nahant and one niece.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday June 29th at 11:00 A.M. in the Trinitarian Congregational Church, East Main and Pine Streets, Norton. Burial will follow in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday June 28th from 5-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
In lieu of flowers, Kathleen’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Voegtlin Children’s Educational Fund care of Harbor One Credit Union 472 Foundry St. North Easton, MA 02356-2725.
