Alfonso of Halifax, Formerly of Brockton January 9, 2002, Henry Alfonso,81 years. Husband of the late Alcina D. (Cardozo) Alfonso and father of Linda M. and her husband James A. Ross of East Bridgewater and Ruth E. and her husband Leo T.Merlino of Brockton.
A Masonic Funeral Service will be conducted by the Paul Revere Lodge of Brockton Thursday at 7:30PM in the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton. Visitation 5--7:30 PM before the Service. Family and friends will gather at the Funeral Home Friday at 10 am for a procession to Melrose Cemetery for the committal.
Mr. Alfonso died on Wednesday in the Goddard Transitional Care Center, Stoughton following a period of failing health. Born in Brockton, the son of the late Sebastian and Mary (Sousa) Alfonso. He had been a resident of Brockton until moving to Halifax 20 years ago. Graduate of Brockton High School. During WW II he served for 3 and a half years in the Air Force in Arizona as a flight instructor. Following his discharge he was involved in trucking, warehousing and freight forwarding for all of his working life. He retired in 1973. He also enjoyed football in all leagues, traveling and his family.
He had been married to the late Alcina D. (Cardozo) Alfonso for 57 years. He is survived by 2 daughters 6 grandchildren , 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
