Mr. Hugh Dixon “Dick” Williams

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Friday, June 19, 2009, Mr. Hugh Dixon “Dick” Williams, 85, beloved husband of Mrs. Maxine Ayer Williams.

Mr. Williams has been a member of First Baptist Church of Augusta since he was 12 years old and was part of the Benevolence and Choir Ministries and member of the Apollos class. He was a graduate of the Academy of Richmond County, and retired from Bell South in 1982. Mr. Williams served in the US Navy during WW II in the Pacific Theater.

Family members in addition to his wife include daughter and son-in-law: Lisa Williams Walden and Rev. Grady Walden of Mt. Airy, GA; son: Richard Williams of Nashville, TN; grandchildren: Brian, Aaron, and Caleb Walden, Kevin Williams; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 5 brothers.

A memorial service will be held Monday, June 22, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Augusta with Dr. Greg DeLoach, Dr. Jake Malone, and Dr. Roger Murchison officiating. Internment will follow in the church gardens.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Augusta Chapel Fund, 3500 Walton Way Ext., Augusta, GA 30909 or to a charity of ones’ choice.
