Obituary

Elsie S. (Enholm) Nelson, 99, a resident of the Lutheran Home, formerly of 11 Goldthwaite Road, died Tuesday, July 15, in UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus.

Her husband of 70 years, Werner A. Nelson, died in 1998. She leaves a son, George V. Nelson of Gardner; a brother, the Rev. Gideon Enholm of Finland; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Two sisters, a granddaughter and a great-grandchild, predeceased her. She was born in Finland, daughter of Gustaf and Anna L. (Backman) Enholm, and lived most of her life in Worcester.

Mrs. Nelson was a seamstress for P.A. Cleaners many years ago. She was a member of Belmont Street Baptist Church and sang in the church choir for more than 40 years. She was also a deaconess at the church, a leader in the church's string band and a soloist. She sang on the radio with the Salvation Army many years ago.

Funeral service wereheld at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 17, in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. Burial was in All Faiths Cemetery. Please omit flowers. Donations may be made to Belmont Street Baptist Church, 25 Belmont St., Worcester, MA 01605.
