Norman L. Turner, 76, of New Bedford died June 17, 2009 at Country Gardens Nursing Home after a long illness.
He was the husband of Anita L. (Andrade) Turner.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Olive S. Turner, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Turner was formerly employed as a maintenance man at United Front Homes for 18 years until retirement. He had previously worked at Freddie Jones Wheel Alignment for many years.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Gregory P. Turner of New Bedford; 3 daughters, Sandra Turner-Glover, and her husband James, of Washington, DC, Susan Turner-Hickey and Sheryl Gomes, both of New Bedford; a brother, Herbert Turner, and his wife Julia, of New Bedford; 2 sisters, Louise Houtman and Yvonne Burgo, both of New Bedford; 9 grandchildren, Craig, Joshua, Dylan, Nathan, Justin, Jenna, Raymond, Isaiah and Jameson; 2 great-grandchildren, Arianna and Ryleigh; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Alma Condol, Barbara James and Betty Anne Rosa.
His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 20th at 9 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday, June 19th from 4-8 PM.
