Antonio Bonifacio Couto, beloved father and grandfather, aged 64 years of Taunton, died Friday, June 12, 2009.
He was born on São Miguel Island, Azores.
He moved to the United States in 1969 and was extremely proud of his American citizenship.
He was predeceased by his parents Manuel Felipe and Elvira (Bonifacio) Couto.
Antonio is survived by his son Louis Couto, wife Donna and their children Sarah and Kyle of East Taunton; daughter Elizabeth Friedrichs, husband David and their children Ian and Isabel of Rochester; daughter Susie LaBelle, husband Stephen and their son Nolan of East Freetown.
Antonio was the brother of Tiberio Raposo of Montreal, the late Manuel Couto of Montreal, Mary Jo Medeiros of New Jersey, Bertha Medeiros of Taunton, and Mary Lou Miguel of Norton.
Antonio also had many nieces and nephews.
He was a retired machine operator for 34 years at Rand McNally / Quebecor World.
He was a hard working, self-taught master craftsman who loved to keep busy – gladly helping and encouraging his family in many ways.
He made sure he always had time for his family – whether it was working or having fun with them.
He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.
More than a father, he was an optimistic, encouraging, supportive and loyal friend.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, on Friday, June 19th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Holy Family Church, E. Taunton at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, June 18th from 5 to 8 p.m.
