Arthur L. Viera, loving husband, father, and grandfather, died at the Marian Manor on June 15, 2009 at the age of 83.
He was the husband of the late Elsie A. (Lawrence) Viera.
Born in Norton, he was the son of the late Manuel and Augusta (Rodrigues) Viera.
A resident of Raynham, he resided in Taunton for many years.
Educated in Taunton schools, he was later employed by the former Geilich Tannery.
In his later years, Mr. Viera also worked as a part-time bartender for the former Leca’s Café, later known as Richard’s in Whittenton.
He was an avid Red Sox fan, and enjoyed spending time working in the yard.
He also enjoyed summers on Cape Cod.
His favorite pastime was watching his great-grandsons play Little League baseball.
Survivors include 3 sons, Ernest J. “Sonny” Correia, Jr. of Berkley, John E. Correia of Taunton, and Arthur L. Viera, Jr. of Swansea; 2 daughters, Marion A. Long of Eliot, ME and Beverly A. Crowninshield of Raynham; a brother, Edward Viera of Dighton; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Joseph Viera, Lena Gonsalves, and Laura Correia.
Funeral Services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday, June 17th at 11 a.m.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home, on Wednesday, from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service.
