SPENCER; Claire J. (Houle) Woodbury, 86, of 22 Lake St., died Saturday, June 13 at her home.
She was the wife of Lewis H. "Pat" Woodbury, Jr. who died in 2006.
She leaves two sons; James R. Woodbury and his wife Sherill of Kokomo, Ind., William P. Woodbury and his wife Jean of Escanava, Mich., a daughter, Sandra L. Lekstrom and her husband Robert of Thompson, CT., a sister, Loretta Allen of Halifax, MA., 9 grandchildren; Nicole Carter, James R. Woodbury, Jr., Rachel Harris, David Woodbury, Patricia Johnson, Connie Mileski, Kenneth Woodbury, Robert A. Lekstrom, Jr., Christine Tkacik, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Brockton, MA. she was the daughter of Hector & Delia (Gagnon) Houle and lived in Spencer most of her life.
Mrs. Woodbury was clerk for 10 years at Chess King a division of Melville Shoe Co. in Worcester, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Spencer Golden Age and the Spencer AARP. She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Spencer. She also volunteered her time at the Tri-Valley Nutrition Program where she was an assistant manager and delivered food with it's Meals on Wheels program. She was an avid "Birder" amasing a large life list of birds. She enjoyed reading, playing word games, crossword puzzles, needle point, crocheting and spending time with her family and friends.
The funeral will be held Thursday, June 18, from the J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow in Old Cemetery, Spencer. Calling hours are Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Spencer Rescue Squad, P.O.
