Obituary

Southbridge - Richard H. Thomas, 82, of Sturbridge formerly of Millbury died on Saturday, June 13th in Radius of Southbridge after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mr. Thomas is survived by two sons Paul D. Thomas of Warren, MA and Bruce E. Thomas of Millbury, MA; two daughters Deborah J. Thomas of Auburn, MA and Jo-Ann M. Moen of Brookfield, MA; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. Richard was born in Worcester son of the late Melvin and Lillian (Demers) Thomas. He graduated from Commerce High School and served in the United States Marine Corps. during World War II.

Mr. Thomas is predeceased by his first wife of 38 years Grace E. (Proal) Thomas who died in 1986, his second wife of 14 years Antoinette (Couture) Bercume Thomas who died in 2001, a son Richard H. Thomas Jr. who died in 1990 and a daughter Sandra E. Puzo who died in 2005.

He worked as a machinist at the Wright Machine Co. and other manufacturing plants before his retirement. Richard enjoyed many outdoor activities such as hunting, camping and fishing with his grandchildren and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He volunteered his time as firefighter for the Town of Millbury for many years and the Millbury Little League as a coach for many years.

The funeral will be held at 11 AM in Saint Brigid’s Church 59 Main St. Millbury on Tuesday, June 16th. Burial will follow in Central Cemetery, Millbury. Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester is directing arrangements.
