Doris Lee Adams, 87, of Albany, formerly of Fitzgerald, died Friday, June 12, 2009 after a brief illness at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Ga.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald, with Dr. Lloyd Stembridge officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until 1:30 P. M. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Adams was born March 20, 1922 in Ben Hill County to the late Joseph Jackson and Mattie King Mims. She was raised in the Fitzgerald Cotton Mill Village. She moved to Albany 6 years ago. Mrs. Adams worked as a former clerk at Grant City and Kress’ in Albany, Ga. She also previously had worked at the Fitzgerald Cotton Mill. She enjoyed crocheting and was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Adams is survived by her daughter and son-in law, Patricia and John Malson of Albany, Ga.; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Hudson Adams, 2 sons, James and Randolph Adams and 1 grandson, James Brian Malson.
