Sophia K. Ford, age 88, widow of John F. Ford, formerly of Windham, NH, died June 11 in Chapin, South Carolina, where she resided with her niece Natalie Neuman-Basso.
She was born May 2, 1921 in Northampton, PA. She was the youngest surviving child of Nicholas and Ellen (Homik) Kraftician. After graduating from Northampton High School in 1938, she entered the US Navy, which she served honorably from 1943 – 1946. Upon her discharge she was employed by the Department of Labor, Department of State, the Internal Revenue Service (Criminal Division), Yale University Law School, and various legal firms.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church in Chapin, SC.
She is survived by loving family members and faithful friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 16 at 10 AM at St. Matthew Church, Windham, NH. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Lawrence, MA.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 15 from 6-8 PM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem, NH.
