TEWKSBURY: Ilene Ruth (Wylie) Vinal, age 77, a former longtime Tewksbury resident, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2009 at the U.N.C. Hospitals in Chapel Hill, NC.
She was the wife of Kenneth E. Vinal, with whom she celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on April 5, 2009.
Born in Lowell on January 19, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Raymond L. and Ellen (Astbury) Wylie.
Ilene was raised in Lowell, attended Lowell schools and graduated from Lowell High School.
Prior to her retirement in 1988, she was employed as a budget coordinator by the Mitre Corporation in Bedford.
Mrs. Vinal was a member of the Tewksbury Congregational Church, the Order of the Rainbow for Girls, the Order of Eastern Star in both Tewksbury and North Carolina, and a charter member of the Sandhills Club in North Carolina.
In addition, she enjoyed knitting and reading.
Besides her husband, Kenneth, she is survived by one daughter, Linda Holden and her husband Mark of Tewksbury; one grandson, Andrew Holden of Tewksbury; one brother, Raymond Wylie and his wife Betty of Pocasset; her sister-in-law, Ruth Bisbee of Laurinburg, NC; also several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will be received Thursday, June 18th, from 9-10 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, followed by a memorial service celebrating her life to be held at the funeral home. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorial contributions to First Health Hospice House Building Fund, 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374 are suggested.
