Henry A. Morrissette, age 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 in Chelmsford after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Gertrude D. (Lefebvre) Morrissette with whom he had celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on June 2nd.
He was born in Lowell on August 19, 1922, the son of the late Jules & Albertine Morrissette. Henry was a longtime resident of the Pawtucketville section of Lowell and a communicant of the former Ste. Jeanne d'Arc Parish.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a route salesman with J.J. Nissen and Sunbeam Bread for many years. Henry also worked in maintenance with Ste. Jeanne d'Arc Parish for several years and was a member of the Teamsters #686.
He was a member of the Ste. Jeanne d'Arc Choir, Franco American Choir and La Chorale Orion. Henry enjoyed spending time with his loving family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Lorraine Daigle and her husband Richard, Diane Morrissette, all of Lowell, Claire Morrissette and her longtime companion, Claude Carrier of Foxboro, and Elaine Morrissette of Lowell; three sons and daughters-in-law, Roland and Virginia (Trudel) Morrissette, Robert and Karen (Lamy) Morrissette, and Roger and Francine (Lemire) Morrissette, all of Lowell; thirteen grandchildren, Coline Concemi, Richard Daigle, Danielle Pollinger, Michael Daigle, Michelle Burley, Paula Jean, Catherine, Rebecca, Gina, Jason, Melissa, Jeffrey and Stephanie Morrissette; nine great grandchildren, Frank, Tyler, Christian, Nicholas, Sophia, Kadence, Olivia, Jacob and Rayanne. Also many nieces and nephews. Henry was the father of the late Richard Morrissette who died in 2000 and Henry "Pete" Morrissette who died in 1985 and brother of the late Pamphile, Lucien, Gerard and Rudolphe Morrissette, Blanche Plourde, Yvonne Morin and Eva Valarose.
Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell, on Friday, June 12 from 4 to 8pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at the Parish of St. Rita, 158 Mammoth Rd., Lowell. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, E. Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ste Jeanne d'Arc School Memorial Fund, 68 Dracut Street, Lowell, MA 01854.
