Arlene H. Kottmyer, of Derry, NH, died after a brief illness. The daughter of the late Mary O' Connell and John Haggerty, she was born in Lawrence, MA on November 14, 1917. Beloved wife for sixty years of the late Luther Charles Kottmyer . Loving mother of Mary Ellen Kottmyer of Wilmington, MA, Diane M. Kottmyer of Winchester, MA and John C.. Kottmyer of Windham, NH. Devoted sister of Sister Mary Albertus of Wellesley, MA. A graduate of the Katherine Gibbs School, she was employed by the War Department in Washington, DC from 1941 to 1944. From 1957 until she retired in 1979, she was secretary to the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences at Merrimack College. She enjoyed reading, politics and needlework.
Calling hours were held on Thursday, June 11, 2009 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Peabody Funeral Home, 15 Birch Street, Derry, NH. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 12, 2009 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Avenue, Derry. Interment followed in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Derry Public Library, 64 East Broadway, Derry, NH 03038.
