Obituary

Charles William “Bill” White, 83, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at his home in Hernando, MS. He was retired from the family wholesale oil company business, C. W. White, Inc., where he worked for over fifty years. He attended Mississippi College and Tulane University and served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was a Mason and was a member of the Lion’s Club.
At the time of his death, he was a member of the Hernando Baptist Church in Hernando, MS, and had previously been a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Water Valley, MS, where he served as deacon, Sunday School teacher, and sang bass in the Adult Choir.
Survivors include his wife of nine years, Anita Coleman White; sons Tommy White of Water Valley and John White of Southaven, MS; daughters Becky White Parker of Jacksonville, FL, and Ginger White Wagner of Dacula, GA; sister Alice White Stogner of Olive Branch, MS; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Thrace Cooper White and Carl Virgil White and his wife of fifty-three years, Jeanette Humphreys White, all of Water Valley.
Visitation will be held at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley on Wednesday, June 10 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Dr. Randy Bain of Water Valley will conduct the 2:00 P.M. funeral service at the Water Valley First Baptist Church on Thursday, June 11, assisted by Rev. Cliff Pace of Hernando and grandson Jordan White of Pascagoula, MS.
Serving as pallbearers will be sons Tommy and John White; grandsons Bill Hayles, Chris White, Jordan White, and Carter White; and Bill Finch, Jr. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley. Memorials may be made to the Baptist Children’s Village, through the Water Valley First Baptist Church.
