Patricia A. Keeler, 73

Dateline: Attleboro, MA

Patricia A. (Houghton) Keeler, 73, of Attleboro passed away unexpectedly on Sunday June 7, 2009 at home. She was the beloved wife of Clifford F. Keeler.
Born in Mansfield, MA on October 15, 1935 she was a daughter of the late Cornelius and Jessie E. (Babb) Houghton.
Pat grew up in Mansfield, was educated in Mansfield public schools and was a graduate of Mansfield High School. She had been employed as a Bookkeeper for the Norton School Department before retiring and had formerly worked for many years as a cashier at the former Fernandes Supermarket in Norton where she was quite popular with store customers.
A person who had a special love for God, Pat had attended the Word of Truth Baptist Church in Attleboro. She was a very caring person and was happiest when she was able to help others. Her favorite times spent were those in the presence of her adoring grandsons and she was so excited when the newest arrival of her family, her great grandson William was around her.
A New England sports enthusiast, she was a big fan of the Boston Red Sox and golfing legend Tiger Woods. Mrs. Keeler and her husband Cliff shared an enthusiasm for trains, and they especially enjoyed traveling by way of locomotive. She was John Wayne’s number one fan and was quite proud of her John Wayne clock. She liked playing computer games and her family will always remember how she loved Coca-Cola, but only when served from a glass bottle.
She had made her home in Attleboro for almost 30 years and was a former Taunton, Norton and Mansfield resident.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her devoted children William A. Gouveia and his wife Cynthia of Norton, Paul M. Gouveia and his wife Darleen of North Dighton and the late Patricia A. Gouveia who passed away on Dec.16, 2004. She was the sister of John Houghton of California, Carol Leathers of Louisiana and was the cherished grandmother of Aaron Gouveia and his wife Martha Jean of Bourne and Nathan Gouveia of Norton. She is also survived by her dear great grandson William Gouveia of Bourne, several nieces and nephews and Scott Cocinkos of Norton to whom she served as a legal guardian and loving caregiver.
Memorial services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday June 13th at 10:00 A.M. in the Word of Truth Baptist Church 171 Union St. Attleboro. Private burial will be held at a later date in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
