MYSTIC: Betsey Stanton Edwards, 3030 Gold Star Highway, Old Mystic, died July 16, 2003 at Mystic Manor after a brief illness.
Born in New London on February 1, 1926 she was the daughter of the late William and Jennie (Collins) Stanton. She graduated from Robert E. Fitch High School in 1944 and attended the University of Rochester/Eastman School of Music. She married Robert Edwards in Chevy Chase, MD in 1958. He passed away March 31, 1987.
Mrs. Edwards was a retired teacher from the former Mystic Oral School. She was a collector of antiques and a lover of cats.
She leaves two brothers, William and his wife Ann of Groton and John and his wife Mary of San Diego, CA. She also leaves her cousin and best friend, Barbara Hodgman and her husband James of Florida and Alaska, as well as nieces and nephews.
A Graveside service will be held on Monday, August 4, at 11:00am at Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
