Obituary

Worcester—Roger W. Alger, 85, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2009. He leaves his wife, Mary P. (Sullivan) Alger, two daughters, Dorothy Sykes of Burlington, MA and Elizabeth Shaw of Florida; 5 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Frank and George Alger and 1 sister, June Miller. Roger was born in Millbury, son of Gladys (Carlson) and Frederick Alger. He was a WWII and Korean Conflict Navy veteran, serving in the European-African and Asiatic-Pacific Theatres—earning two stars, the WWII Victory Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.

The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joan of Arc Parish, 570 Lincoln Street, Thursday, June 11, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will be held prior to the funeral from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street.
