Virginia C. O’Neill, 86, passed away at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital on June 6th, 2009. She was born in Boston on April 29th, 1923 to her parents Charles and Maryellen (Cunningham) George. Virginia was raised in South Boston, attending Boston Public Schools. She raised her own family in South Boston before moving to Malden where she has resided for the past 37 years. Virginia was a homemaker who also worked as a clerk for the Boston Company. She is survived by her children, Arline Carpine of Malden, Arthur O’Neill of Chelmsford, Eugene O’Neill of Norwood, William O’Neill of Quincy, Mary Calisi of Somerville, Anne Spurr of Wilmington and James O’Neill of Stoneham. She is also survived by her sister, Rita Thurman of Malden, 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Virginia was predeceased by her husband Arthur J. O’Neill and by her daughters Marilyn and Virginia O’Neill. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Wednesday June 10th at 8 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 9 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday June 9th from 4-8 PM.
