Doris Brown Abbott, 74, of Tifton died Thursday, June 4, 2009, at Tift Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2009, at Flat Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Berrien County. Rev. Mickey Lindsey will officiate with burial to follow in Flat Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Tony Price, Bobby Nix, Johnny Mack Brown, Lee Brown, Ray Abbott, Jr., Steve Brown, Jeff Brown, Donnie Brown and Randy Carr will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 5, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Abbott was born on April 27, 1935 in Sparks and was the daughter of Manning S. Brown and Pinkie Sweat Brown, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Allen Abbott; and four brothers. She was a homemaker and a member of Flat Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Berrien County. She had lived in Tifton for 50 years.
Mrs. Abbott is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell Allen and Cindy Abbott of Tifton and Gary Lee and Teresa Abbott of Enigma; two brothers, Homer Brown of Midway and Herman Brown of Dupont; three sisters, Blanche Hahn of Louisiana, Lucille Hancock of Nashville and Betty Johnson of Homerville; five grandchildren, Mitch Abbott, Lacey Abbott, Michelle Abbott, Brett Abbott and Cody Abbott; two step grandchildren, Allison Browne and Parker Browne; and one great grandchild, Patricia Abbott.
