William V. “Bill” Maraglia, Sr. 78 years of West Bridgewater died unexpectedly Friday May 29, 2009 at Tufts Medical Center. He was the devoted husband for 46 years of Roberta C. (Price) Maraglia. Born and raised in Brockton a son of the late Dominic Desormiers and Winnifred Maraglia Desmories Bill had been a resident of West Bridgewater for the past 45 years. During the Korean Wars he proudly served with the US Marine Corps 3rd Division in Korea and received the National Defense Service Medal, Korea Service and United Nations Service Medal.
In 2000 Bill retired from Hallsmith-Sysco after 38 years. A man who loved his country, Bill had been a member of VFW Post 2125 in Bridgewater, the Bridgewater Veterans Club, the Marine Corps League Caddy Post in Quincy and the Metro South Marine Corps League Brian McPhillips Post Det 1115 in Easton. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, was a lifelong Red Sox fan, coached baseball and softball for West Bridgewater YAA and had been a member of the West Bridgewater Gridiron Club.
Bill will be remembered as a kind and generous man who always spoke his mind and who received his enjoyment in life from his granddaughters.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his four children. William V. Maraglia, Jr. of Bridgewater; Denese Koza and her husband Douglas of Berlin, MA; Elizabeth Maraglia of Bridgewater and Michael Maraglia of W. Bridgewater. He is also survived by two granddaughters Kaleigh and Alana and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Helen, Thomas, Joseph and Arthur Maraglia.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday at 8:30 am. Funeral Mass in St. Ann Church, W. Bridgewater at 9:30 am. Burial with Marine honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery at 11:30am.. Visiting hours Wed. 4-8 pm.
