Obituary

Mr. Harry J. Adams, a lifelong resident of Medford, died on Saturday, May 30, 2009, at the J.F.K. Medical Center in Palm Beach County, Florida. He was 80 years old. Born in Medford, Massachusetts, on September 6, 1928, he was the beloved son of the late Harry J. and Gertrude (Wilkinson) Adams. Harry was the beloved husband of Eleanor (Thornley) and the late Lillian Eleanor (Cutlip).

He was a 50 year veteran of the Free and Accepted Masons Mt. Herman Lodge and the Medford Council of Royal Arch and Select Masons. Mr. Adams was a WWII Army veteran, entering the military at Ft. Banks on October 5, 1946 and receiving his honorable discharge from Fort Lawton in Washington on March 5, 1948. While serving in the Army, Harry attained the rank of PFC and was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. After being discharged from the Army, Mr. Adams worked at Raytheon as a Sheet Metal Mechanic for over 40 years.

He will be sorely missed by his wife, Eleanor and her family, Cindy and Jimmy of Massachusetts, Brian of Rhode Island and Joe of Florida, sister-in-law Beatrice Berg of Melrose, and brothers Warren Adams of Medford and Carlton Adams of W. Virginia. He was the brother to the late Hayward Adams, Emma Sgro, Evelyn MacNeil and Florence Griffin. He was also the loving uncle of Gail Berg, Laurel Sheehy, Dawn Adams, Denyce Akell, Dale Staples, Randy Adams and Jackie DiNunzo.

His Funeral Service was celebrated in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, on Thursday, June 4 at 10:30 AM. Visiting hours were Wednesday, June 3 from 4 to 8 PM. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
