Obituary

Bennie C. Woody, 69, of Stoughton, died May 25, 2009 after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was born, raised and educated in VA. He relocated to Stoughton in 1966 and founded Anchor Tank Lining Inc., an international sandblasting and coating company, and retired as CEO in 2005. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, he enjoyed his religious activities for decades and was associated with the Stoughton Congregation and Hyde Park Congregation. Mr. Woody will be remembered for his outgoing personality, friendly smile and polished style of dress. His deep interests included his family, building car engines and drag racing. He was a Veteran of the US Air Force where he served as an airplane mechanic.
He is survived by his wife, Deloris Perry Woody. He is also survived by Carolyn (Robertson) Woody, friend and mother of his children: Reginald Woody and his wife Ellen of AZ, Dedra Perry and her husband Mitchell of MI, Andomo Woody and his wife Donna, Tanya Wilson and Crystal Corpening and her husband Jeffrey all of MA. He was the eldest child and son of Mrs. Annie M. Woody of Newport News, VA and the late Samuel Woody. He was the brother of Curtis Woody and his wife Jackie, Carol-Ann Woody and Judy Woody all of MD, Edward Woody and his wife Beckie and Keith Woody and his wife Nuressa, both of VA and Lorraine Townes and her husband Asmar of TX. He was the grandfather of Reginald Bruno Woody II, Benjamin Woody, Lauren Woody, Clifford Woody and his wife Elizabeth, Isaac Owen, Amos Owen and his wife Meredith and Ezra Owen. He was the great-grandfather of Elise Owen. He was the beloved nephew of Amanda Walker, Clara Seaster and Vernice Frye. He was the brother-in-law of Donne Robertson. He is also survived by a great many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral Services were private. Donations in his memory may be made to “Worldwide Work” c/o: Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 638 Pearl St., Stoughton MA 02072. Memorial Services are scheduled for Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 1 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 638 Pearl St., Stoughton, MA 02072 and at 4:30 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1345 River St., Hyde Park, MA 02136.
