Obituary

James V. Nasise, husband of the late Mary, (Martinelli) Nasise, and the late Virginia (Galanto) Nasise, died at the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich on May 27, 2009.
He was 93.
Born in Norton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (D’Angelo) Nasise.
A Taunton resident for many years, he moved to Sandwich a year ago.
An Army Veteran of WW II, Mr. Nasise served with the 168th Infantry, receiving the Purple Heart with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters for injuries sustained in battle.
He was employed as a wool grader for the former Talbot Wool Combing Co. for over 27 years.
Later, he worked as a truck driver for the MA DPW, retiring at the age of 62.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Taunton, Mr. Nasise was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, Elks Lodge 150, DAV Chapter 57, the Portuguese American Civic Club, and the Italian Naturalization Club.
He leaves a daughter, Frances Krusas and her husband James of Sandwich; a brother, Phillip Nasise of Reno, NV; 2 sisters, Margaret Fonseca of Attleboro and Lillian Silvia of Naples, FL; 2 grandsons, James Souza and his wife Shirley and Timothy Souza and his wife Angela, all of Sandwich; 3 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Kristen and Timmy; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Samuel and Frank Nasise, Pauline Zupulla, and Frances Patterson.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway Taunton on Monday, June 1st at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary’s Church, Taunton at 10 a.m. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Middleboro.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, May 31st, from 4 to 7 p.m.
in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's or St. Anthony's Church, Taunton.
