Obituary

WORCESTER-Betty N. (Moyer) Kelley, 85, died Thursday, May 28 in Radius Healthcare of Worcester. She leaves her husband of 63 years, Frederick R. Kelley, Jr.; two daughters, Maura K. Vantre of Worcester and Elizabeth M. Hazelhurst of Sydney, Nova Scotia; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She also leaves a brother, Earl A. Moyer of Little River, SC and two sisters, Jane Donovan of Port St. Lucie, FL and Anne Isenburg of Little River, SC; several nephews and nieces. A son, Frederick R. Kelley, III predeceased her in 2006.
She was born in Sunbury, PA, daughter of Earl and Mary (Nevin) Moyer. Betty was raised in Sunbury by her grandparents William and Goldie (Reed) Nevin and graduated from Sunbury High School.
She then worked for the Harrisburg, PA Dept. of Health where she met her future husband. Subsequently, after WW II, she moved to New Bloomfield, PA and resided at Carson Long Military Institute. After moving to Worcester in 1954 and raising her family, Betty worked as a secretary in the Federal Programs office for the Worcester Public School Department for 15 years, retiring in 1979. She was a past member and officer of the Auburn Emblem Club, a past member of the St. George's Women's Guild and she enjoyed reading and traveling.
The funeral will be held on Monday, June 1 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle Street with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. George’s Church, 38 Brattle Street. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park. Visiting hours are Sunday, May 31 from 6-8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elks National Foundation, 2750 N.
