Obituary

Worcester—Margaret M. Noone, a retired Registered Nurse, died May 27, 2009. She was 94 years old. She was born in Worcester, daughter of John T. and Mary E. (McGuan) Noone and lived here most of her life. In 1936 she was graduated from Worcester Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She received a B.S. degree in Nursing from Simmons College and a Master’s degree in Education from Boston University. During WWII, Miss Noone served in the Army Nurse Corps all through N. Africa and later she was assigned to the University of Pennsylvania's 20th General Hospital in Ledo, India at the “No Mile” mark. She was discharged with the rank of Captain.

She worked in community health, education and administration at the federal, state, and local levels. During the development of the Blood Program, she worked for the Red Cross out of Washington, D.C. She has been a Red Cross Nurse since 1941.

Margaret was a Charter Member of the Women in Military Service For America Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery and was present at the dedication in 1997. She was a member of the MA Society of Geneologists, Assn. of Christian Therapists, International Honor Society and Professional Association in Education, and the International Honor Society for Nursing.

She leaves several nieces, nephews, and their families. She was predeceased by brothers John and James Noone and sisters Mary Kristoff and Ann Clifford.

At the request of the deceased, there are no calling hours or funeral service. Burial will be private in the Veteran's Garden at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
