Obituary

Arthur John Fowler, 84, Clarksville, died Tuesday, May 25, 2009, at Gateway Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Neal-Tarpley Chapel with Rev. B.J. Brack officiating. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born May 30, 1924 in Walthill Nebraska son of Rev. William Arthur Fowler and Hazel Faye Fowler. Arthur was proud of the fact that he was the first white baby born in the hospital on the Indian Reservation where his father was the minister. Arthur served in the US Army Air Force during WWII. He was a T/Sgt with the 15th Air Force, 485th Heavy Bomb Group, 829th Squadron. During his time in the US Army Air Force he was Flight Engineer on the B-24 Liberator plane. He was very active in the 485th Bomb Group reunions held yearly at various locations around the country. He was a retired printer with Globe Printing. Survivors include his wife, Frances Fowler; son, Jeff Emery (Muriel), Arizona; daughter, Christina Kay Searfoss (John), Clarksville; brother, Glenn Fowler, Massachusetts; sister, Shirley Dolenski, Illinois; four grandchildren, Shawn Hines (Cynthia), James Hines, Paul Searfoss (Kelly), and Matthew Emery (Tonya); ten great-grandchildren; Destiny, Devin, Logan, and Lillian Searfoss; Zachary and Ashley Hines; Nicholas Hines, and Tatiana, Dalton and Holly Emery. Arthur was preceded in death by his father and mother, William and Hazel Fowler; and his sister Virginia Michael. In lieu of flowers donations in Arthur's name may be made to the Cancer Society, Diabetes Society, or the Lung Foundation.
