Obituary

Ret. Lt.Col. Robert W. Thorndike age 88 of Windham, NH, died Friday at his home in Windham, NH.

He was born in Malden, MA, and has been a resident of Windham, NH for over 50 years.

Mr. Thorndike was owner and operator of Robert W. Thorndike Land Surveyor. He was also on the Board of Directors for over 35 years at the Salem Cooperative Bank in Salem, NH. Mr. Thorndike was also a Town Engineer & Town Consultant for the Town of Windham, NH. He was a former Selectman in Windham for over 20 years, and a former NH State Representative, and was a member of St. Matthew Church in Windham, NH.

Mr. Thorndike was a retired Lt. Colonel for the U.S. Airforce and was a B-25 Bomber Pilot in World War 2, where he received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion Post 109 in Windham, NH for over 50 years.

He is survived by his wife: Lena I. (DiBenedetto) Thorndike of Windham, NH

2 Sons: David & his wife Linda A. Thorndike of Londonderry, NH John & His wife Georgette Thorndike of Windham, NH

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 AM at St. Matthew Church, Windham, NH. Burial will follow in Cemetery on the Hill, Windham, NH.

Calling hours will be held Monday from 3-5 & 7-9 PM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem, NH.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.
