Thomas J. Vogel, 53

Thomas J. Vogel, 53, of Norton formerly of Canton and Needham passed away on Friday May 22, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in Norwood.
Born in Boston, MA on August 9, 1955 he was a dear son of Edward R. and Stella M. (Badorek) Vogel of North Falmouth, formerly of Needham.
Tom grew up in Needham and was educated at St. Bartholomew’s School and in Needham public schools. He was the proud owner of the Norton Currier, Inc.-Tom’s Taxi, a company he operated in Norton for over 20 years and he also operated Wheaton Wheels in Norton.
He had made his home in Norton for over 20 years and was a former resident of Canton and Needham. Tom truly lived life to its fullest. He enjoyed water skiing, boating, motorcycles and the many wonderful summers with family and friends spent at Old Silver Beach in North Falmouth.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his devoted brothers and sisters Robert Vogel of Marlboro, Dorothy O’Neil and her husband Kevin of Vienna, VA, Joan Muir of Newton, Allie Christian and her husband Jerry of Canton, Kenneth Vogel and his wife Wendy of Raynham, Donald Vogel and his wife Nancy of Mansfield, Paul Vogel of Mansfield and Mary Hunter and her husband Darcy of Easton. He was the loving longtime companion of Marlene Johnson of Norton and is also survived by Marlene’s daughter Lauren Benjamin of Norton as well as several nieces, nephews, one great nephew, aunts, cousins and many friends.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday May 27th at 8:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a mass of Christian burial celebrated at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St.(Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday May 26th from 6-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Tom’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the American Diabetes Association P.O. Box 11454 Alexandria, VA 22312 or the Norton Fire Department Gift Account 70 East Main St. Norton, MA 02766.
