Obituary

Bette A. (Makos) Arthur, 86 years of Brockton died Sunday May 17, 2009 at Signature Healthcare-Brockton Hospital after a brief illness She was born in Newburyport, a daughter of the late Soteneos and Anthe (Tsagros) Makos and had been a resident of Brockton for the past 24 years. During WWII she served in the US Navy as a WAVE and in the late 1970’s she was reinstated as a civilian employee of the Navy. She enjoyed being a grandmother “YaYa” to Camryn Joy.

In addition to her granddaughter she is survived by 2 daughters, Stacey Arthur of Sterling, VA and Cari Sideris of Blaine, WA and her sister Helen Karopoulos of NH. She was the sister of the late and the late Sylvia Fox, Eddy, Stephen and Nicholas Makos.

Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Friday at 8am. Funeral Service in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak Street, Brockton at 9am. The Rev. Anthony Evangelatos will officiate. Burial with military honors in the Veterans lot of Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Visitation Friday 8 to 8:30 am.
