WORCESTER-Charles A. Ewaskio, 91, of Worcester, died Wednesday, May 20th in Holy Trinity Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. His wife of 61 years, Nancy F. (Puorto) Ewaskio, died in 2005. He leaves three daughters, Florence L. Forsberg and her husband David of Worcester, Angela M. Kazanovicz of Northborough, and Miriam A. Ewaskio-Singleton and her husband Joseph of Dobbs Ferry, NY; a sister, Ruth Ewaskio of New Haven, CT; six grandchildren, Eric and Victoria Forsberg, Angela Wilbur, Alexandra Bailey, Nicholas Kazanovicz and Raffael Singleton. He was predeceased by his son, Joseph S. Ewaskio in 1989 and his brother, Harry Ewaskio, Jr.
He was born in New Haven, CT, the son of Harry and Mary (Krysa) Ewaskio. Mr. Ewaskio graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in electrical engineering and studied physics at Harvard University Graduate School. He devoted his life to teaching at the St. Benedict Abbey School in Still River for many years before retiring. He previously had taught at Boston College and during World War II, he worked at Harvard University’s Underwater Sound Laboratory. Mr. Ewaskio was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, and had participated in the Marriage Encounter for many years. He enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and was an avid reader.
The funeral is Saturday, May 23rd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 11:00 A.M. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street. Burial will be in St. Benedict Abbey Cemetery, Still River. Calling hours are from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday, May 22nd in the funeral home.
